Spellcats: Auto Card Tactics on PS5 Pro: First Impressions

I recently got a chance to play around an hour of Spellcats: Auto Card Tactics on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by Nintai Studios.

You can find my gameplay below:

You can also take a look at my first impressions of Spellcats below:

Pros:

  • Deep and addicting roguelike deck builder.
  • Cute cat artwork.

Cons:

  • None.

Overall:

Spellcats: Auto Card Tactics is a roguelike deck builder.

When dueling, you have to place different cat cards on the field, with the left-most space being the first to attack. If the first card dies, then the rest of the cards move up. The duel ends when someone runs out of cards.

The cards are pretty diverse as there are five different elements that add different conditions that will help buff your team and/or debuff the enemy.

As you progress through the randomly generated paths, you will run into certain events that will boost your deck. Your run will end if you run out of HP by losing too much or by beating all the dungeons.

Overall, Spellcats: Auto Card Tactics is a deep and addicting game as there are many ways to build up your deck. If you are a fan of roguelike deck builders, then you should definitely give this game a shot.
