Pros:
- Dark cartoonish art style with hand drawn animations.
- Diverse locations.

Overall:
Barbarian Saga: The Beastmaster is a unique looking Metroidvania with a dark cartoonish art style that pays tribute to He-man and other classic adult animations.
Another standout component for Beastmaster is the diverse locales. During my first hour of gameplay, I was able to visit a cave, forest, spider den, as well as multiple towns. Some of the areas were unreachable, meaning that I would have to come back to the same location at some point to fully explore it.
From a combat standpoint, Barbarian Saga: The Beastmaster is pretty simple as you can attack, block, and dodge. That doesn’t mean that the game is easy, however, as the levels are filled with deadly enemies and number traps to keep you on your toes.
Although Barbarian Saga has a story, it is a little hard to understand due to the less than stellar dialogue.
Outside of the underwhelming plot, Barbarian Saga: The Beastmaster is a pretty fun Metroidvania with a distinct look that sets it apart from other games from the same genre. Make sure to check it out.
