I recently got a chance to play through Nightmare Shift on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by Ultimate Games.
You can find my full platinum trophy walkthrough below:
Trophy Tips and Roadmap:
The first missable trophy is called Gamer. To unlock it, you need to collect all the points in the videogame you played during the Night-2 Apartment Chapter before running out of lives. If you fail, start the chapter over again.
The first major branching path is during the Night-5 Police Station chapter. You can either accept or refuse the Penguin Camera. I choose to refuse the camera to get locked into the Ending 3 trophy path, which also unlocks Night-5 Nightmare. Ending 3 is probably the worst ending; so, I recommend getting it first if you are going for the platinum.
Once you get to the last chapter (Night-6 House After Work), make sure you upload your save data to the cloud if you have PlayStation Plus before beating the game. By doing so, you don’t have to replay much of the game again since your progress will be deleted each time you reach an ending. If you don’t have PS Plus, then you have to replay the game four times from the beginning to get the four endings.
Once you unlock the Ending 3 trophy, return to the Night-5 Police Station either by downloading the save file you uploaded to the cloud or by replaying the earlier chapters over again. Once you get to this chapter, select to accept the Penguin Camera to unlock the Penguin Camera trophy. This path will also lock you into the three other endings.
Once you pick up the camera, you should now be in the Night-5 Apartment Chapter. When you unlock the door to the other apartment, make sure you interact with the lamp on the kitchen counter of the other apartment to reveal a secret passage. Interact with the hanging lamp in the secret passage to open the hidden wall that leads back to your living room to unlock the Secret Passage trophy. This will set you up to unlock all three of the remaining endings during the last chapter.
Once you get to Night-6 House After Work with the penguin camera installed in your room and the secret passage discovered, upload your save to the cloud if you have PlayStation Plus. By doing so, you can just replay the last chapter to get the three endings.
With everything set up, head into your apartment. Once you get there, make sure you avoid picking up a knife in the kitchen so that you get Ending 2. After watching the tape, use the secret passage you discovered earlier by touching the lamp near the concealed wall in your living room, and then run out of the building. If you are successful, then you should get Ending 2. If not, you will get Ending 4 instead; in that case, start the chapter over again and escape successfully.
Return to Night-6 House After Work chapter again and make sure you pick up the knife this time to gain access to Ending 1 and Ending 4. Watch the tape and you should be locked into a fight with the stalker. You will unlock Ending 4 if he kills you or Ending 1 if you kill him.
You can find my mini review of Nightmare Shift below:
Pros:
- Engrossing whodunit story.
- Eerily atmosphere.
Cons:
- Chapter select is erased after you beat the game.
Overall:
Nightmare Shift is a first-person horror game where you play as a motel receptionist working at night. Along with dealing with abnormal customers at work, you will also be haunted by a stalker at your apartment.
The game does a great job at making you feel uneasy, from jump scares to nightmare imagery. You always get a feeling that someone is stalking you, whether if it’s at work, or at home.
Not to mention that the plot remains strong throughout as you will have a hard time guessing who the culprit is, or if there is more than one.
If you enjoy horror games with an engrossing plot, then Nightmare Shift is a must play.
