I recently got a chance to play around an hour of Plungeez on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by QUByte.
You can check out my gameplay video, as well as my first impressions of the Metroidvania, below:
Pros:
- Unique sewer setting.
- New mechanics keep exploration fresh.
Cons:
- None.
Plungeez is a Metroidvania puzzle platformer where you need to find your way out of a complex sewer system. Instead of fighting enemies, your main objectives are to get through locked gates by thoroughly exploring the environments.
To open locked gates, you often need to find a lamp and then a fire source in order to power up a chamber to release the lock. During your journey, you will fund plungers, which help you stick to walls, diving gear to help you dive into deep water, and other useful items.
Like any good Metroidvania game, every new item you get in Plungeez will open up new sections of already explored locations. The plungers, for example, let you scale to a higher platform that was previously inaccessible.
Overall, Plungeez is a fun and relaxing puzzle platformer. If you are into Metrodvanias, then you might want to check out this unique take of the genre.
