I recently got a chance to try out Pets Survivors on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by eastasiasoft.
You can check out my gameplay video below:
You can also find my first impressions of Pets Survivors below:
Pros:
- Unique cast of characters.
- Manual and automatic aiming.
Cons:
- Only biomes.
Overall:
Pets Survivors is a bullet heaven game where you get to play as pets that can wield weapons.
Along with the usual dogs and cats, there are other species, each of which have their own stats and unique abilities. The chicken, for example, can hatch up to three chicks that will help you form a small army. The game offers 14 playable characters overall, along with 12 diverse weapons.
If you aren’t familiar with bullet heaven, your main goal is to survivor waves of enemies. While most games from this genre only support automatic firing, you can pick between manual or automatic in Pets Survivors.
During the stages, you can select different stat boosts that will help you with your survival. You can also pick up coins to spend on the shop menu, which provides permanent upgrades.
The only real issue with this game is the lack of biomes as you only get to visit the Forest and Snow Forest. It also doesn’t help that the enemies, including the two bosses, are palette swaps between the two stages.
With that said, you should still get plenty of mileage out of Pets Survivors with its diverse cast of characters and weapons. If you are a fan of bullet heaven, then you should check this game out.
