I recently got a chance to play through Psycho Dream on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by Ratalaika Games.
You can check out my platinum trophy play through below:
Trophy tips:
- Cheats do not disable trophies.
- I only used the Infinite Lives cheat. To get through the game even faster, you can enable other cheats and the speed up option.
You can find my mini review of Psycho Dream below:
Pros:
- Gritty anime aesthetics.
- Incredible soundtrack.
- Cheats and Quality of life options.
Cons:
- Some slow down.
Overall:
Psycho Dream was previously released way back in 1992 for the Super NES. Years later, an emulated version of the 2D action platformer is now available for all major platforms for the first time in English.
The game stands out immediately thanks to its gritty anime aesthetics that were popular when the game was released. The incredible soundtrack also adds to the incredible presentation that easily stood the test of time.
While the gameplay may feel clunky by today’s standards, there are several quality of life features such as save states, rewind and fast forward.
You can also enable cheats to give yourself infinite health, infinite lives, infinite magic and level selection.
The only real issue I have is that the game can drop frames and slow down when there is too much chaos on the screen.
If you don’t mind the technical issues, then Psycho Dream is a fun classic 2D action platformer with an incredible presentation if you are a fan of the more mature 1980s and 1990s anime.
