Dragon Loop on PS5 Pro: First Impressions

I recently got a chance to play an hour of Dragon Loop on the PS5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by HAPPY PLAYER PTE. LTD.

You can find my gameplay video below:

You can also read my impressions of Dragon Loop below:

Pros:

  • Time traveling mechanic adds twists to traditional Metroidvania exploration.
  • Beautiful hand-drawn 2D characters.

Cons:

  • Long pauses when auto saving.

Overall:

Dragon Loop is a traditional Metroidvania game where you traverse through a mysterious world. The visuals stand out immediately, especially the beautifully hand-drawn 2D characters.

The main twist to this when compared to others of the same genre is that you can time travel through different days. By doing so, you get to access new paths.

New pathways open up as you unlock new traversal abilities. By defeating bosses, you also get to summon them for special attacks.

The only drawback is that the game will pause for several seconds when auto saving. It’s long enough to think that it may have crashed.

If you don’t mind the auto saving freezes, then Dragon Loop is a fun Metroidvania with beautiful graphics and unique time traveling exploration.
