I recently got a chance to play Springbot: The Last Spark for around an hour, thanks to a review copy provided by eastasiasoft. You can find my gameplay video, along with my written impressions, below:
Pros:
- Vibrant visuals.
- Cute and childish character designs.
Cons:
- Wonky hit detection.
Overall:
Springbot: The Last Spark is a platforming game where you play as a robot. The vibrant visuals jump out to me immediately, especially the robot designs that look like they have been designed by a child.
While jumping feels floaty, you should get used to it eventually. The floatiness actually helps when it comes to dealing with the enemies.
What you won’t get used to is the wonky hit detection. If you don’t land directly at the center of the enemy’s head, then there’s a chance you will die. Sometimes, where you even die even if you kill the enemy with a jump. There are other times where you don’t land directly at the center, you will still get the kill.
Overall, Springbot: The Last Spark is a pretty fun but basic platformer that is being held back by inconsistent hit detection.
