I recently got a chance to play around an hour of FORENSIC – M.E. Protocol on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review code provided by JanduSoft. You can find my gameplay video and written impressions below:
Pros:
- Intricate crime scene forensic sim.
- Unique cases.
Cons:
- Awkward controls.
Overall:
FORENSIC – M.E. Protocol is a simulator where you play as a crime scene forensic expert. You are tasked with collecting evidence, which include finding fingerprints, determining bullet trajectories, testing fluid samples, interviewing any witnesses, and more.
The actions can be pretty intricate. To get a fingerprint, for example, you have to manually brush all around the object. Afterwards, you need to use red tape to get an imprint. You then need to compare your findings to the database to see if there are any matches.
The game offers nine cases, each with unique locations and situations. After each case, you are given a score, which increases replay value as you will want to jump back in after you realize you missed something during your investigation.
The only downside is the awkward controls. The game never explains the controller layer, which means you have to figure it out on your own.
They can also be cumbersome. For example, when trying to deduce what happened in the menu, you need to click on an option and then move the cursor away for it to be highlighted. Simply clicking it is not enough.
As long as you have enough patient to learn the controls, then FORENSIC – M.E. Protocol is a very fun experience if you are into crime scene investigations.
