By default, Starfield uses a film grain effect in order to make the graphics in the game appear more filmic. If you find that the grainy filter is making the visuals hard to see, then you can check out this guide from Seeking Tech to see how you can tone this effect down or disable it completely.
1. For the first step, you need to head over to the Settings menu in Starfield.
If you haven’t loaded into the game, then you can get there from the main menu. If you have already loaded into your save file, then you can press the Menu button to bring up the pause menu and then select Setting from there.
2. From the Settings menu, select the Display option.
3. In Display, you will find the Film Grain Intensity slider. It should show the following description:
Sets the intensity of the film grain effect.
4. You can use the left analog stick or directional pad buttons to adjust this slider, which is set to the maximum value of 1.00 by default. You will be able to adjust it in increments of 0.01.
To completely disable film grain, you need to set the Film Grain Intensity slider all the way to 0.00.
5. Once you are done, exit the Settings menu.
When you start playing Starfield again, you should notice the reduction of graininess.
