When playing Final Fantasy XVI, you may not be able to hear any dialogue. To see how you can potentially fix this missing voice audio issue, you can take a look at this troubleshooting article from Seeking Tech.
Before we start, it is important to note that not all conversations are voiced in this video game. There are times when a character will only say a few words and nothing else. In these conversations, you should see a background overlay at the bottom of the screen with a prompt saying that you need to press the X button on the controller in order to move on to the next phase of the conversation.
This is most likely done as a cost saving measure as it takes money to hire an actor to voice the lines in this Japanese role-playing game. So, while the important lines are voiced, some of the less important conversations are displayed as text only.
If you also can’t hear dialogue during cut scenes as well as other scenarios where you expect there to be voices, then you should make sure that you didn’t mute the Voice Volume. In order to do so, you need to take the following steps:
Start off by opening the System Menu. You can do so, by selecting Config from the title screen or System from the Main Menu if you already loaded into your save file.
In the System Menu, use the L1 and R1 buttons to switch to the Sound Settings tab.
From the Sound Settings tab, make sure that the Voice-over Volume is not set to 0. In our case, we decided to move this slider all the way to 100 as we found that the voice volume to be a little low.
In the same Sound Settings tab, you can also try increasing the Master Volume. Furthermore, you can try lowering the Music Volume and Effects volume to see if you are able to hear the voiced dialogue better.
