Virtual Hunter on PSVR2 and PS5 Pro: First Impressions

I recently got a chance to try out Virtual Hunter on the PlayStation VR2 and PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by VRKiwi and Korpi Games Oy.

You can find my gameplay video and written impressions for this VR-only game below:

Pros:

  • Intricate hunting details.
  • Immersive weapon firing.
  • Online co-op for up to 6 players.

Cons:

  • Can cause nausea.

Overall:

Virtual Hunter is a PSVR2 hunting game for the PlayStation 5. It is fairly hardcore as you need to manually reload a weapon with different hand motions.

When tracking your hunt, you also need to use various tools in addition to staying hidden. Animals can even be alerted by your smell, which means you need to pay attention to where the wind is blowing by looking at the foliage.

In addition to hunting alone, you can also team up with five other players online. You can also fill your cabin with your hunt trophies.

The only real issue I have with the game is that I get nauseous when walking or running around. The only possible solution was to close my eyes when moving your character, which isn’t ideal.

If you have strong VR legs, then Virtual Hunter is a fairly hardcore hunting simulator worth trying out.
