I recently got a chance to play Traysia on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by Ratalaika Games.

Pros:
- Quality of life features.
- Cheats.
Cons:
- Tedious gameplay.
Overall:
Traysia is a Sega Genesis JRPG that was originally released in 1992. Thanks to Ratalaika Games an emulated version is now available on all modern platforms.
The re-release comes with some much needed quality of life features such as save states, rewind and, most importantly, turbo. By being able to fast forward, you can speed up the gameplay significantly, making combat and exploration a lot quicker than before.
You can also use cheats to make the difficulty easier. Traysia can be quite difficult with the lack of save points. Not to mention the game ends when the main character runs out of HP.
Even with the cheats and quality of life features, Traysia can still get extremely tedious. The battles are simplified tactical turn-based where you move on a grid and attack enemies. These can take quite long to complete.
Not to mention that it is very easy to get lost during exploration as the areas are quite large. Since you are constantly getting thrown into random battles, you can end up getting disoriented on the field and lose track of where you need to go next.
The game also doesn’t tell you what each equipment does, while also making equipping and transfer items quite cumbersome.
Despite some great efforts at making the game more accessible to modern audiences, Traysia still falls short of creating a compelling and fun JRPG experience.
