Scan lines are enabled by default in Animal Well, as it imitates the effects that you see in old-school CRT televisions. If you would rather turn these off, then you can check out this guide at Seeking Tech to see how you can properly do so.
1. To start off, open up the Paused menu.
2. You then need to head into Options.
3. From there, make sure that the Scanlines setting is disabled.
4. Exit the menus and you should no longer see any scanlines when you return to playing Animal Well.
You may find that the flashing lights to be a little too intense in Animal Well. To see how you can reduce its effects, you can take a look at this guide at Seeking Tech.
1. For the first step, open the Paused menu.
2. From there, select Options.
3. In Options, make sure that the Reduce Flashing setting is enabled.
4. Exit the menu and then return to playing Animal Well. The flashing lights should now appear dimmer if you have Reduce Flashing turned on.
This Seeking Tech guide will explain how you can find the map in Animal Well. By doing so, you will be able to unlock the Explorer trophy and achievement.
1. If you haven’t done so already, make your way to the first save telephone on the game and then go right.
2. Go right again.
3. In the new screen, a phantom enemy will appear. You need to go right and then quickly jump up to the left platform to exit to the left.
4. You then need to make your way to the left over the next two screens.
5. You will eventually arrive in an area with a locked door that requires you to hit three switches to unlock.
6. Hit the first one at the top from where you are standing and then carefully drop down to the bottom floor.
7. Use the crank to raise the platform so that you can jump over and hit the second switch.
8. There is a hidden path to the left of the second switch that you can find by dropping down. Follow its path to hit the third switch.
9. With the door unlocked, go through it to the next area, where you will unlock firecrackers. These are used to defeat phantom enemies.
10. Return to the area where you first encounter one to defeat it with firecrackers.
11. Afterwards, climb the ladder to a new area.
12. Once you get off the ladder, immediately head to the right screen.
13. In the new screen, you should find the map in the treasure chest.

In order to light an unlit candle, you will need to find a match. These special items are located inside of chests hidden throughout the map.
The earliest you can find this item is to the left area of the very first save telephone.
Once you get past the unlocked door, jump up the hidden platform in the same area in order to find a chest with the item.
The first unlit candle you run into is located to the right side of the first save telephone in the game. You have to climb a ladder to the next screen and then look for a hidden area that will let you drop down to the candle.
If you have a match in your inventory, then you can interact with an unlit candle to light it up.
