Realm of Ink on PS5 Pro: First Impressions

I recently got a chance to try out Realm of Ink on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by 4Divinity.

You can find my hour-long playhthrough of the beginning, as well as my impressions so far, below:

Pros:

  • Beautiful Chinese painting aesthetics.
  • Chaotic and fun combat.
  • A lot of customization options and randomize elements to keep runs fresh.

Cons:

  • May be too easy for some players.

Overall:

Realm of Ink is a roguelite action-RPG in a similar vein to Hades. This game immediately jumps out with its unique visuals that mimic the beautiful Chinese painting aesthetics.

From a combat standpoint, Realm of Ink is very fun. Along with many enemies, you also have your ink pets appear on the same screen. With multiple characters attacking at once, the action can get so chaotic that you may lose track of where you are.

Thankfully, the game is pretty lenient when it comes to the first several realms, which gives you plenty of cache for mistakes. I only died near the end of the video despite playing it for the first time.

With that said, those looking for more of a challenge may be put off by the easier difficulty.

Overall, Realm of Ink is a fun and polished action-RPG for those looking for a similar experience to Hades.
