I recently got a chance to play around an hour of Moros Protocol on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by Super Rare Games.
You can find my gameplay video below:
You can also check out my first impressions of Moros Protocol below:
Pros:
- Atmospheric presentation.
- Gore adds intensity of battles.
- Online co-op.
Cons:
- None.
Overall:
Moros Protocol is a Roguelike first-person shooter that is heavily inspired by DOOM and System Shock.
When you wake up, you find yourself trapped in a spaceship crawling with alien monsters. While you start out with a melee weapon, you will eventually find guns and augments that will boost your combat abilities.
When you eventually die, there is a massive skill tree available that will provide permanent upgrades.
In terms of gameplay, Moros Protocol plays like an old-school first-person shooter. You have to think quickly on your feet and be ready to dodge when the enemy attacks. Along with using your own weapons, you can also use environmental hazards to your advantage.
The game’s presentation also adds to its retro feel with its pixelated visuals. Not to mention that the gore does a great job at showing off the intensity of fights as blood and guts are scattered on the floors and walls.
Although the game starts off a bit slow since you are limited to only your melee weapon with very little health, it starts to pick up eventually as you level up permanently.
If you find the challenge to be too hard, then Moros Protocol also supports online co-op for up to two players.
Overall, Moros Protocol is a fun old-school first-person shooter that implements Roguelike elements. If you are a fan of the FPS and/or Roguelike genres, then make sure to check it out.
