Lexar recently released the NQ100 2.5” SATA III (6Gb/s) Solid State Drive. So, how does this new model stack up against the similar NS100 and NS200 models?
You can find out in this comparison guide between the three solid state drives.
Quick Summary
When you compare the similar capacity options, the new NQ100 has the same maximum sequential reading speeds as all capacities of the NS200 as well as most capacities of the NS100.
The only exception is that the 240GB NQ100 and 256GB NS200 SSDs are slightly faster than the 256GB NS100 SSDs.
When it comes to endurance, the NS100 and NS200 can endure more writes than the newer NQ100 as both the of the older drives have better TBW and DWPD.

When you compare similar capacities, the NQ100 is equal to the NS200 at maximum sequential reading. The 480GB NQ100 and 512GB NS200 also have the same max read speeds as the 51G GB NS100 while the 960GB NQ100 and 1TB NS200 1TB NS100 are equal to the 1TB NS100.
With that said, the 240GB NQ100 and 256GB NS200 are 30 MB per second faster (or 5.77% faster) than the 256GB NS100.
You can check out the maximum sequential read speeds below:
- 240GB NQ100: Up to 550 MB per second
- 480GB NQ100: Up to 550 MB per second
- 960GB NQ100: Up to 550 MB per second
- 128GB NS100: Up to 520 MB per second
- 256GB NS100: Up to 520 MB per second
- 51G GB NS100: Up to 550 MB per second
- 1TB NS100: Up to 550 MB per second
- 256GB NS200: Up to 550 MB per second
- 512GB NS200: Up to 550 MB per second
- 1TB NS200: Up to 550 MB per second
TBW
When you compare similar capacity options, the new NQ100 SSD falls short of the NS100 and NS200 when it comes to endurance.
You can write 44 TB more data with the 256GB NS100 and NS200 SSDs than the 240GB NQ100 SSD. You can also write 88 TB more data with the 512GB NS100 and NS200 SSDs than the 480GB NQ100 SSD. Last but not least, you can write 176 TB more data with the 1TB NS100 and NS200 SSDs than the 960GB NQ100 SSD.
Endurance is measured as Terabytes Written (TBW), which means how much data can be written on a Lexar solid state drive during its warranty coverage period.
You can find the TBW specs below:
- 240GB NQ100: 84 TBW
- 480GB NQ100: 168 TBW
- 960GB NQ100: 336 TBW
- 128GB NS100: 64 TBW
- 256GB NS100: 128 TBW
- 512GB NS100: 256 TBW
- 1TB NS100: 512 TBW
- 256GB NS200: 128 TBW
- 512GB NS200: 256 TBW
- 1TB NS200: 512 TBW
DWPD
Drive Writes Per Day, or DWPD, measures how much you can overwrite Lexar’s 2.5” SATA III (6Gb/s) SSD on a daily basis during the warranty coverage period.
The DWPD for the NQ100 is 32% while the DWPD for the NS100 and NS200 is both 46%. Thus, you will be able to write more data with the NS100 and NS200 SSDs on a daily basis.
Operating Temperature
The NQ100, NS100 and NS200 solid state drives have the same operating temperature range, which is from 0°C to 70°C (32°F to 158°F).
Storage Temperature
The three Lexar 2.5” SATA III (6Gb/s) SSDs also have the same storage temperature range, which is from -40°C to 85°C (-40°F to 185°F).
Shock Resistance
Furthermore, the solid state drives have the same shock resistance specifications, which you can find below:
- 1500G, 0.5 ms duration, Half Sine Wave
Vibration Resistance
The vibration resistance is different between the new NQ100 and the other storage drives.
You can find the specs below:
NQ100:
- 7 Hz to 800 Hz, 3.08Grm, 20G, 1 Oct/min, 30min/axis (X,Y,Z)
NS100 and NS200
- 10 Hz to 2000 Hz, 1.5mm, 20G, 1 Oct/min, 30min/axis (X,Y,Z)
