If you have a Google Pixel 6 or Google Pixel 6 Pro, then it is recommended that you opt-out of device arbitration. Otherwise, you may have a harder time trying to file a claim and/or participate in a class action lawsuit in regards to your smartphone.
To do so, you can follow this step-by-step guide at Seeking Tech.
1. First off, we recommend using your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro as doing so should streamline the process. You should also view this article on your phone to easily get to the opt-out form.
2. To begin, open the Settings app.
To do so, you can swipe downwards from the top of the phone’s screen two times. Next, you need to tap the gear icon to head into Settings.
An alternative method is to swipe upwards from an empty area on the Home screen in order to bring up a menu showing off all of the installed app on your smartphone. Afterwards, tap the Settings app.
3. After getting into Settings, scroll all the way down the list and then select the “About phone” option.
4. Inside the “About phone” menu, select the “Model” option.
5. After getting to the “Model & hardware” menu, tap and hold the serial number.
6. In the pop-up menu, tap Copy.
7. After copying the serial number, open the Chrome app or another web browser app.
8. Inside the browser app, visit the Google Device Arbitration Opt-Out Form.
9. Next, make sure you are signed into the same Google account you are using for your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro phone.
10. In the “Select the Google device for which you wish to opt out of arbitration” portion of the form, select your phone from the drop-down list.
11. In the “Enter the serial number for your Google device” portion, tap and hold inside the “Device serial number” box.
12. Tap the Paste option that shows up to paste the serial number of your Google Pixel 6 or Google Pixel 6 Pro phone.
13. Tap Submit to complete the form.
