When using your Google Pixel 6 or Google Pixel 6 Pro, you may notice that the touchscreen may inaccurate, unresponsive and/or contain dead zones.
If you are experiencing any of these issues, then you can check out this guide from Seeking Tech.
1. The first step you should be taking is to increase the sensitivity of the touchscreen for your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro.
You can do so by taking the following steps:
- To start, you need to open Settings app, which you can do by first swiping upwards on an empty space in the Home screen. Next, you need to tap the Settings app from the list of installed apps.
- Inside the Settings app, tap Display.
- Once you arrive at the Display menu, make sure that the “Increase touch sensitivity” option is enabled.
2. If the inaccurate, unresponsive and/or dead zone issues are only occurring when you are using one specific app, then you can try updating the app.
- To updates apps, first open the Play Store App.
- Inside the Play Store, tap your profile icon, which should be on the right side of the search bar.
- In the pop-up menu, tap the “Manage app & device” option.
- In the “Manage app & device” menu, we recommend tapping “Update all” so that you can update all of your installed apps at the same time.
3. You can also try closing an app and then restarting it again. To close an app, you need to do the following: Swipe upwards from the bottom of the phone and then hold. In the next screen, swipe upwards on the app that you want to close.
4. Furthermore, you can reboot your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro. To do so, press the power button and volume up button at the same time. In the power and emergency menu, tap the Restart option.
5. You can also try updating the operating system of your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro phone.
To update to the latest firmware, you need to do the following:
- Go to the Settings app.
- Inside the Settings app, select the System option from the list.
- Once you get to the System menu, select the “System update” option.
- In the next screen, you should get a prompt to update if there is a new firmware available for the operating system.
6. The touchscreen issues may be related battery drain, which is normally caused by certain apps or settings taking up too many resources. You can check out this troubleshooting guide to see how you can fix the shortened battery life issue and, therefore, potentially fix the touchscreen issues as well.
7. A factory reset may also be helpful in getting rid of the touchscreen problems on your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro.
Keep in mind that this process will erase all the settings and files you have saved on your smartphone. Therefore, we recommend manually backing up your phone before resetting it to factory settings.
To factory reset, we suggest doing the following:
- First off, you should open the Settings app.
- Inside of Settings, tap Google.
- From the Google menu, tap Backup.
- In the Backup menu, select the “Back up now” option.
- With your phone backed up, head back to the first page of the Settings app.
- Next, you need to tap System.
- Inside the System menu, tap “Reset options.”
- After getting to the “Reset options” menu, tap the “Erase all data (factory reset)” option.
- After your phone has been factory reset, you will have to initialize it once again. During this process, you will eventually be asked to download the backup data you previously created.
8. When using your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro, you should also make sure that your fingers and the phone’s screen are cleaned.
