The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ and Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra all feature a Super AMOLED display screen that will automatically adjust its brightness level depending on the surrounding lighting condition.
If you find that the automatic brightness feature is making the screen of your tablet too bright or too dark for your liking, then you can check out this troubleshooting guide at Seeking Tech to see what you can do.
1. To start off, we recommend checking to see if you have Adaptive Brightness enabled on your Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8 Plus or Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra.
In order to do so, you need to take the following steps:
- Make sure you open the Settings App on your tablet.
- After getting inside the Settings App, you then need to go to Display.
- In the Display menu, make sure that the Adaptive Brightness setting is turned on.
- With the Adaptive Brightness setting enabled, the tablet will use machine learning to adapt to your preferred brightness level, based on the ambient lighting condition, over time.
2. In order to make the Adaptive Brightness feature more accurate when it comes to your personalized brightness preferences, we recommend manually adjusting the brightness as much as possible, especially when you are using your S8, S8+ or S8 Ultra in many different lighting conditions.
One of the ways you can manually adjust the brightness of your screen, is by using Quick Settings. To do so, you need to do the following:
- Swipe downwards from the top of the screen of your tablet to drag down the Notification Panel.
- On the Notification Panel, swipe downward again to expand the menu and gain access to Quick Settings.
- The brightness slider should appear at the bottom of Quick Settings.
You can also access the brightness slider by opening the Settings App and then going to Display.
3. By manually making adjustments to the screen brightness, the Adaptive Brightness will learn your preferences over time. Eventually, the auto brightness should look perfect and you won’t need to manually adjust anymore.
4. If you are still getting a screen that is too bright or too dark, then make sure you aren’t blocking the light sensors on your Samsung tablet as it may cause the device to inaccurately determine your ambient lighting condition.
5. If you are finding that the Adaptive Brightness feature to be inaccurate after several weeks, then you can disable it from the Display menu of your Settings app.
With this feature disabled, you can simply adjust the brightness level of your screen manually without having to worry about the auto brightness causing problems.
