Both the Google Pixel 6 and Google Pixel 6 Pro have been listed to have a battery life of 24 hours or more. If the battery life for your phone lasts much less than 1 day, then you may be suffering a battery drain.

1. The first step we recommend taking it to close any opened apps that you aren’t currently using. To do so, you need to do the following:
- Swipe upwards from the bottom of the screen and then hold to view a list of apps that are currently opened on your phone.
- In this menu, swipe up on an opened app to close it.
2. If you have apps running on the background, then you can do the following:
- To begin, you need to unlock the “Developer options” menu. Start by going to the Settings app.
- In the Settings app, select the “About phone” option.
- In the “About phone” menu, you need to tap the “Build number” option 7 times in quick succession.
- With the “Developer option” menu unlocked, go back to Settings and then select System.
- In the System menu, select “Developer options. “
- In the “Developer options” menu, make sure to enable “Use developer options.”
- You then need to select “Running services.”
- In the “Running services” menu, you will see a list of currently running background apps on your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro. Here, you can select the app that you want to close.
- In the “Running app” menu, select the “Stop” option.
3. You can also force stop or uninstall any apps that are using a lot of battery. To do so, you need to take the following steps:
- Go to the Settings app.
- Inside Settings, select the Battery option.
- In the Battery menu, select Battery Usage.
- In the “Battery usage” menu, you should see the apps that have been opened, as well as the battery percentage consumed, over the past 24 hours.
- Here, you need to select an app that you want to force to stop or delete.
- In the next screen, you can select “Uninstall” or “Force stop.”
4. You should enable adaptive battery (which will extend the battery life based on your activities) and adaptive charging (which is designed to preserve the long-term life of the battery).
To turn on both, you need to do the following:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Battery.
- Tap the “Adaptive preferences” option.
- In the “Adaptive preferences” menu, make sure that both “Adaptive Battery” and “Adaptive Charging” are enabled.

6. We also recommend disabling any non-essential notifications, which you can do by taking the following steps:
- Open the Settings app.
- In Settings, select Notifications.
- In the Notifications menu, select “App settings.”
- In the “App notifications,” you can block notifications from any non-essential app you have installed on your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro.
7. We also suggest disabling Smooth Display by doing the following:
- Head into the Settings app.
- Select Display.
- In the Display menu, disable the Smooth Display feature.
8. Furthermore, you should turn off the “Force peak refresh rate” and “Allow window-level blurs” settings.
You can find both of these in the aforementioned “Developer options” menu.
9. You can also lower the screen brightness by doing the following:
- Go to the Settings app.
- Inside the Settings app, select Display.
- In the Display menu, select “Brightness level.”
- At the top of the screen, you will be able to use the bar to lower the screen brightness.
- We also recommend disabling the “Adaptive brightness” setting in the same Display menu.

- Open up the Settings app.
- Inside Settings, select Accessibility.
- In the Accessibility menu, select the “Vibration & haptics” option.
- Inside the “Vibration & haptics” menu, you can choose to disable all rumble. You can also choose to disable vibration for calls in addition to being able to adjust the rumble intensity for ring, notifications and touch feedback.
11. A quick may to fix battery drain is to enable the Battery Saver mode, which you can do by taking the following steps:
- Swipe downwards from the top of the screen.
- Swipe downwards from the top of the screen again.
- You should be able to see the Battery Saver setting. Make sure to turn it on.
With the Battery Saver mode activated, your phone will automatically do the following:
- Enable Dark Theme.
- Disable the “Always show time and info “feature.
- Disable apps from running in the background.
- Disable OK Google functionality.
- Disable location services when the phone screen is turned off.
- Disable car crash detection.
- Disable smooth display.
- Delay notifications.
- Limit refreshed content on an app to only when it is first opened.
- Switch preferred network type from 5G to LTE.
12. Finally, you can also enable the Extreme Battery Saver mode by doing the following:
- Open the Settings app.
- Select Battery.
- Select Battery Saver.
- Select Extreme Battery Saver.
In the Extreme Battery Saver menu, you can select the “When to use” option and then pick between the following:
- Ask every time
- Always use
- Never use
You can also select the “Essential apps” option to add apps that you want excluded from being limited by the Extreme Battery Saver.
Aside from essential apps, this mode will cause your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro to automatically perform the following actions:
- Disable Bluetooth scanning.
- Disable Wi-Fi scanning.
- Disable your work profile.
- Disable current hotspot connection.
- Disable current tethering connection.
- Pause most apps.
- Stop paused apps from sending notifications.
- Slow down CPU usage.
- Set the screen timeout to 30 seconds.
