In order to disable automatic firmware updates on your Google Pixel 6a, then you need to take the following steps:
1. To begin, make sure you turn on your smartphone and then unlock its screen.
2. Next, you need to open the Settings App on your Pixel 6a.
If you can’t locate it, then you can swipe upwards to bring up a list of installed applications on the device. From there, you should be able to get into Settings.
Alternatively, you can also swipe downwards twice from the top of the screen, once to open the Quick Settings menu and then another time to expand the same menu. From there, select the gear icon to go to Settings.
3. Before doing anything else, make sure you have the Developer Options menu enabled.
If you don’t, then you need to select About Phone in the Settings App. In the About Phone menu, you then need to quickly tap the Build Number option multiple times until you unlock the Developer Options menu.
4. With the Developer Options menu unlocked, head back into the Settings menu and then select System.
5. From the System menu, you then need to select Developer Options.
6. Inside of the Developer Options menu, make sure that the Use Developer Options setting is turned on.
7. In the same menu, make sure that the Automatic System Updates setting is disabled.

How to turn off automatic app updates on the Pixel 6a
If you want to disable automatic app updates on your Google Pixel 6a, then you need to do the following:
1. Turn on and then unlock your smartphone.
2. You then need to open the Play Store App.
3. Inside of the Play Store App, tap your profile icon, which should be located on the right side of the top search bar.
4. In the menu, you then need to select the Settings option.
5. Once you get in the Settings menu, you need to select Network Preferences.
6. Next, you need to select the Auto-Update Apps option.
7. In the pop-up window, you can select the following options:
- Over any network
- Over Wi-Fi only
- Don’t auto-update apps
If you want the Pixel 6a to only download app updates when it is connected to a Wi-Fi network so that you can avoid using your mobile network, then you can select the “Over Wi-Fi only.”
To completely disable automatic updates for applications, then you need to select the “Don’t auto-update apps” option.
