GluMe on PS5 Pro – First Impressions

I recently got to try out GluMe for a little bit over an hour on the PlayStation 5 Pro. You can find my no-commentary video walkthrough, as well as my written impressions, below:

Pros:

  • Hard but extremely rewarding puzzles.
  • Instant retry button.
  • Great background music.

Cons:

  • May be too frustrating for some.

Overall:

GluMe is a single-screen puzzle game where you slide a slime around to collect green gems. In order to cross large gaps, you need to combine multiple slimes to create a bridge.

As you go deeper into the game, more elements, such as enemies that move as you move, are added to freshen up the gameplay.

The puzzles are very hard since they require a lot of trial-and-error and outside-the-box thinking. Once you manage to solve a level, however, you get a massive sense of accomplishment.

Thankfully, there is an instant retry button if you mess up, and you will. This minimizes the frustration of failed run.

The soundtrack is also great as it puts you in a thinking mood while not being too overly distracting at the same time.

Even with the ability to retry instantly, some players may still find the game to be too frustrating to play, especially if they get stuck on a specific level thinking that they have exhausted all options. So, this game is definitely not for everyone.

If you don’t mind getting stuck in puzzles for a long time before coming up with a solution, then GluMe is a great, and cheap in terms of pricing, game to test your puzzle-solving skills.
