Final Fantasy XIV Type A Controller Layout

Type A is the default controller layout of Final Fantasy XVI. With this, you will be using the Triangle, Square and Circle buttons to perform Magical, Melee and Eikonic Feat attacks.

Final Fantasy XIV Type B Controller Layout

The Type B layout moves the main attacks to the shoulder buttons. You will also be able to use the Circle button to dodge.

So, if you like attacking with the shoulder buttons in games such as Bloodborne, Dark Souls, Demon’s Souls, Elden Ring, God of War and God of War Ragnarök, then you might want to consider switching over to this type.

Final Fantasy XIV Type C Controller Layout

The Type C layout is mainly the same as the Type A layout in Final Fantasy XVI.

With that said, the Magic action will be assigned to L1 while the Cycle Eikons action has been moved over to the Triangle button. To lock onto an enemy, you have to use the L2 button.
