When compared to the SanDisk Extreme Portable Solid State Drive V2, the SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable Solid State Drive V2 is nearly twice as fast at maximum random reading speeds and two times faster at maximum random writing speeds. The pro version also has double the interface transfer speed.

The SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable V2 is also the only one of the two to come with a forged aluminum chassis that functions as a heat sink.

The SanDisk Extreme Portable V2 is smaller than the pro version. It is also the only one to offer a 500 GB capacity option.

Forged Aluminum Chassis

The second version of the Extreme Pro Portable is the only one of the two products in this comparison guide to feature a forged aluminum chassis, which is designed act as a heat sink to help cool the internal components of the solid state drive.

Carabiner Loop

Both of the external storage drives come equipped with a carabiner loop, which makes it easy to tie down the SSD to a backpack, belt and other objects.
