Dr. Psycho Hospital Escape on PS5 Pro: First Impressions

Dr. Psycho Hospital Escape is now available on the PlayStation 5. I recently got a chance to play the game for around an hour on a PS5 Pro console, thanks to a review code provided by Upscale Studio.

I was able to beat the game in Practice and Normal Modes. I also played a bit of the game in Hardcore Mode.

You can find my video walkthrough, with no commentary, below:

The following is my quick impressions on Dr. Psycho Hospital Escape:

Quick Impressions:

Pros:

  • Tense roguelike survivor horror gameplay.
  • The game does not hold your hand. You have to learn the controls and stealth mechanics on your own.
  • Multiple difficulty modes are available. I recommend playing practice mode first if you don’t want to feel frustrated in Normal or Hardcore.

Cons:

  • No option to turn off the head bobbing. The game can make you feel nauseous as a result.

Overall:

Dr. Psycho: Hospital Escape is a tense rougelike survivor horror that doesn’t hold your hand.

If you find the game frustrating in Normal or Hardcore Mode, then you can use Practice Mode to explore the hospital first without having to worry about the psychos. This easier difficulty helps you understand the layout of the map, which should make the harder modes more manageable.

As long as you don’t mind the frustration with a lot of its trial-and-error elements, Dr. Psycho: Hospital Escape is a pretty fun experience for its small price tag.
