When using your Google Pixel 6 or Google Pixel 6 Pro, you may notice that your smartphone may be slow at rotating, or not rotating at all, when you switch from landscape to portrait orientation and vice versa.
You can check out this troubleshooting guide to see how you can fix these auto-rotate issues.
1. The first step we recommend taking is to make sure that the Auto-Rotate feature is enabled.
The fastest way to do this is to swipe downwards from the top of the screen with two fingers at the same time. This should fully pull down the Quick Settings menu. Here, you can see whether or not the “Auto-rotate” setting is turned on. If it is turned off, then make sure you turn it on.
2. You should also make sure that allow home screen rotation, which you can by doing the following:
- To begin, open the Settings app. The fastest way to do so is to use two fingers at the same to swipe downwards from the top of the screen to fully pull down the Quick Settings menu. Afterwards, tap the small gear icon to get to Settings.
- In Settings, tap Apps.
- Inside the Apps menu, tap the “See all apps” option.
- In the “All apps” menu, scroll down and then tap Pixel Launcher.
- Once you get to the “App info” menu for Pixel Launcher, tap the “Additional settings in the app” option.
- In the” Home settings” menu, make sure that the “Allow Home screen rotation” option is enabled.
3. You can also try enable facial detection, which will improve the accuracy of rotating the screen of your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro. If you are worried about privacy, then Google has stated that images from the face detection feature won’t be stored or sent.
To turn on facial detection, you need to take the following steps:
- Open the Settings app.
- Inside the Settings menu, tap Display from the list of available options.
- Once you get to the Display menu, tap the “Auto-rotate screen” option.
- In the “Auto-rotate screen” menu, make sure that the “Use auto-rotate” option is enabled.
- With the “Use auto-rotate” option enabled, you should now be able to select the “Enable Face Detection” option underneath. Here, you need to make sure that the facial detection feature is turned on.
4. The slow or non-functioning auto-rotation problems may also be related to the cameras.
You should make sure that the lens for these cameras are clean. You can take a look at this guide to see how you can properly clean your smartphone.
You should also make sure that your hand isn’t blocking the cameras.
