Zombuffoonery on PS5 Pro: First Impressions

I recently got a chance to play around an hour of Zombuffoonery on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by Brainium Games.

You can find my gameplay video and first impressions below:

Pros:

  • Addicting zombie apocalypse twin-stick shooter.
  • Currency system adds depth to gameplay.

Cons:

  • None.

Overall:

Zombuffoonery is a twin-stick shooter set during a zombie apocalypse. Your goal is to kill all the enemies that appear on the left and right side of the screen.

To help you, the game features a Roguelike leveling system that uses coins. You can use the coins dropped by enemies heal, restock ammo, or unlock and level up various bonuses.

For example, you can add turrets and rocket launchers to the field to help you attack. You can also add an axe that will spin around you, or a saw that will move randomly across the map. All of these can be leveled up along with regular starts like health and attack power.

The key to success to finding which combinations of bonuses work best. In some cases, what works for one type of enemy may not work well for another type. Expect to die a lot.

Although there is no permanent progression system outside of continue from the level you die in, Zombuffoonery can still be quite addicting due to the combination of arcadey twin-stick shooting with random Roguelike bonuses.

If you are a fan of twin-stick shooters and/or Roguelikes, then you should definitely check this game out.
