Overall:
Ground Zero Hero is a bullet heaven game that features graphics that should remind many of Simpsons and Futurama. The art style of these cartoons fit perfectly with the post apocalyptic settings of the game.
Aside from the visuals, the game also sport a great and energetic retro-style soundtrack.
As for the gameplay, Ground Zero Hero plays similarly to other bullet heavens in that your character will auto-attack while you move around and collect various items in the environment.
When you level up, you get to pick between different power-ups, including weapons. The weapons are quite weird in a good way as they are based on various nuclear mutations. For example, you can attack with tentacle arms or have Game 6 Clay bombard enemies from afar.
Another unique aspect with this game is the day-night cycle. While you can try to survive the night, you are advise to seek shelter as night time is a lot more dangerous. Not to mention that resting in shelters will also heal your health.
Overall, Ground Zero Hero offers a fun and unique take on the bullet heaven genre. If you are a fan of these types of games, then this is a can’t miss.
