I recently got a chance to play around an hour of Teeto on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by Super Rare Originals.
You can find my gameplay video below:
You can also check out my first impressions of Teeto below:
Pros:
- Creative level designs to keep gameplay fresh.
- Fun power-ups.
Local co-op.
Cons:
- None
Overall:
Teeto is a 3D platform that is heavily inspired by some of the greatest of the genre. More specifically, it combines the collectathon levels of Banjo Kazooie with the transformations of Kirby.
Even with its inspiration, Teeto is more than capable of standing on its own. This is due to its creative level design as the game will keep you on your toes with fresh surprises around every corner. One level have you sliding down a cave, for example, while the next another level will have you climbing on top of the tree.
Littered throughout the levels are NPCs that often give you side quests to complete. These characters are quite unique and have fun personalities.
In terms of transformations, Teeto can transform into a lot of objects found in the environment. The flower transformation allows you to swing across long gaps, while the stone transformation lets you ground pound. There are plenty of other unique forms as well even if some don’t appear as useful when compared to others.
One of the biggest selling points of the game is that it supports split-screen local co-op. If you have a friend or loved one, then this is a great co-op game, especially if you are looking to show off your love of platforming to someone who aren’t into the genre.
Overall, Teeto is a love letter to 3D platformers that also managed to stand on its own thanks to creative level designs, fun power-ups as well as support for local co-op. If you are a fan of the genre, then this is a can’t miss game.
