I recently got a chance to play Ultra Pixel Survive 2, thanks to a review copy provided by Ratalaika Games.
You can find my platinum trophy playthrough below:
Trophy Tips:
I recommend using Violet as the main attacker during combat due to her long-range fireballs.
To get the platinum, make sure you gather 25 grasses, 35 stones, 15 coals, 10 clays, and a lot of wood pieces. When breaking the stones and chopping down trees, you should unlock the First Fracture and Lumber Season trophies.
Grasses, stones, and wood can be found in the starting area, which is the safest location in the game since you can run into the cabin for shelter. If you survive the first day, you should unlock the Still Breathing trophy.
Coal can also appear in the starting area although it is quite rare. To get coal, you are better off building a campfire and then using a lot of wood as fuel. The wood will then turn into coal.
To build a campfire, you need 15 stones and 15 wood pieces. This will unlock the Spark of Safety trophy.
Once the campfire has been built, use some wood as fuel and then cook some food to unlock the Dinner’s On trophy.
Clay can be found from the rocks on the beach. When you get to this location for the first time, you should unlock the Salt and Sand trophy.
Visit the cave as well to unlock the Into the Dark trophy.
To build the furnace, you will need 10 clays, 15 coals, 30 stones, and 15 wood pieces. This will unlock the Hot Start trophy.
To build the spike, there are several steps. To start off, fight monsters with Violet until she levels up. You should unlock the following trophies when doing so: First Blood, Clean Up Crew, No Mercy, Pocket Change, and Power Spike.
After leveling up Violet, interact with the giant crystal in the starting area and start the invasion. Successfully protect the crystal from the slimes and you should get some building points as a reward.
Next, craft 5 ropes by using 25 grasses. Afterwards, craft the wooden spikes by combining 5 ropes with 25 wood pieces and 1 building point.
You can check out my first impressions of Ultra Pixel Survive 2 below:
Pros:
- Large roster of character classes.
- Plenty of content.
Cons:
- Unintuitive controls.
Overall:
Ultra Pixel Survive 2 is a side-scrolling survival crafting action-RPG. You start out the game with three characters and will unlock a lot more (up to 25 total) as you progress.
You can only control three characters at a time as the other two will only passively follow you until they are switched to become active. Switching is important, especially if one character is running low on health. Not to mention that some characters may work better in certain combat situations.
Aside from combat, you need to gather and craft in order to restore your health, feed your hunger, and quench your thirsts. You also need to build defense structures to help fend off invading enemies.
After spending an half hour of the game, I felt like I barely scratched the surface as I only was able to build a few structures. So, you should expect a very lengthy experience.
The only major issue with the game is the controls. You move the characters with the directional pad but must use the left analog stick as mouse cursor to access the menus.
This can end up causing a lot of confusion at first, especially since the game only pauses when you check your backpack. During other circumstances, the game will still be running even with the cursor on screen.
Aside from that, Ultra Pixel Survive 2 is a pretty fun survival crafter with a lot of depth. If you are a fan of the genre, then make sure to give this a look.
