Scruge: Hive on PS5 Pro: First Impressions

I recently got the chance to play around an hour of Scruge: Hive on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by Ratalaika Games.

You can find my gameplay below:

Pros:

  • Unique isometric perspective.
  • Rewind and fast forward options.
  • Cheats.

Cons:

  • Jerky camera movements.

Overall:

Scurge: Hive is a Metroidvania game from an isometic perspective. The game was originally released for the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS. So, compared to other games from the same genre, it is really unique.

The emulated game comes with some quality of life features as you are able to rewind or fast forward. There are also cheats available, including invincibility and infinite key cards.

The only real negative is that the camera can sometimes jerk when scrolling. It can be somewhat jarring, especially during combat.

Aside from that, Scurge: Hive is a fun isometric Metroidvania with a lot of quality of life features. If you are into the genre, then make sure to check this game out.
