I recently got to try out a demo of The Eternal Life of Goldman. You can find my gameplay, as well as read my written impressions of the game so far, below:
Pros:
- Spectacular 2D visuals with incredible animations.
- Variety of platforming scenarios to keep gameplay fresh.
Cons:
- Sometimes it is diificult to identify which objects and enemies are interactable.
Overall:
The Eternal Life of Goldman is a 2D action platformer with spectacular 2D visuals and incredible animations. It really looks like a classic French cartoon came to life.
With that said, the game is more than it looks. You are constantly put in new and interesting platforming scenarios where you need to think and react. The pacing is exquisite as you are never doing the same thing for any extended period.
The only real issue is that it is sometimes hard to tell which objects and enemies are interactable, and which are just windows dressing for the background/foreground.
Aside from that, The Eternal Life of Goldman is shaping up to be a major Game of the Year contender.
