King of Ping Pong MEGAMIX on PS5 Pro: First Impressions

I recently got a chance to play through King of Ping Pong MEGAMIX on a PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review code provided by eastasiasoft.

You can find my gameplay video, as well as written impressions, below:

Pros:

  • Fun table tennis spin of Punch-Out.
  • Standout visual style.

Cons:

  • May be too difficult for some.

Overall:

King of Ping Pong MEGAMIX mixes table tennis with Punch-Out. This means that each of the five opponents have their own quirks and abilities. It’s up to you to figure out the different ball spin and special attacks in order to win the match.

King of Ping Pong MEGAMIX is not really a table tennis simulator since the opponents will always volley the ball back to you no matter what. To actually get the ball past the opponent, you need to deplete their stamina.

Once you get used to its quirks, the game can be a fun and addicting experience. However, the difficulty ramps up quickly after you get past the arcade mode and play the championship modes.

For me personally, I wasn’t able to get past the first character even though I was on the easiest difficulty level in championship mode.

If you think you are skilled enough, then King of Ping Pong MEGAMIX offers a fun spin on the Punch-Out formula.
