Jaleco Sports: Bases Loaded 2 on PS5 Pro – First Impressions

I recently spent around an hour with the Jaleco Sports: Bases Loaded 2, thanks to a review code provided by Rock It Games.

You can check out my playthrough for the two main games, Super Bases Loaded 2 and Bases Loaded II: Second Season, below:

Check out my impressions below:

Pros:

  • Super Bases Loaded 2 still holds up.
  • Collection includes the international releases: Moero!! Pro Yakyū ’88 Kettei Ban, Super 3D Baseball and Hanguk Pro Yagu.
  • Rewind and save states are available.

Cons:

  • By today’s standards, Bases Loaded II: Second Season is very clunky.

Overall:

Jaleco Sports: Bases Loaded 2 comes with five games: Bases Loaded II: Second Season, Moero!! Pro Yakyū ’88 Kettei Ban, Super Bases Loaded 2, Super 3D Baseball and Hanguk Pro Yagu.

Moero!! Pro Yakyū ’88 Kettei Ban is the Japanese version of Bases Loaded II: Second Season.

Super 3D Baseball is the Japanese version of Super Bases Loaded 2. Hanguk Pro Yagu is the Korean version of Super Bases Loaded 2.

Out of the two main games, Super Bases Loaded 2 still holds up well as it comes with automatic fielding, intuitive controls and even has a full season mode.

On the other hand, Bases Loaded II: Second Season is rather clunky by today’s standards. For instance, you have to control the fielders when the ball is hit in their directions. If multiple fielders are on screen, then you have no idea who you are controlling.

I also could never figure out how to advance the runners in Bases Loaded II even after looking at the manual.

Both games come with save states and rewind; the latter is extremely helpful when it comes to fielding in Bases Loaded II. The game did crash on me when using the rewind feature, however, so you may want to save if you want to use it often.

If you are a fan of classic baseball games, then this is a great collection since you get two main games along with three more international versions. Even if I wasn’t a big fan of Bases Loaded II, Super Bases Loaded 2 is still worth the small asking price.
