I recently got a chance to play around an hour of 1964 Operation Velvet Twins, thanks to a review copy provided by Ratalaika Games.
You can check out my gameplay video below:
You can also check out my first impressions of 1964 Operation Velvet Twins below:
Pros:
- Fun and challenging beat ‘em up platformer.
- Nostalgic 8-bit style presentation.
Cons:
- None.
Overall:
1964 Operation Velvet Twins is a beat ‘em up with some platforming elements. The game sports a stylish presentation that resembles something you find on the original NES.
While you can normally attack with your fists, you can also use your gun although ammo is very limited.
Moreover, you can find weapons lying on the ground occasionally, although usage for these is also limited. If you are dealing with multiple enemies, then you can use your machine gun. Although ammo is unlimited for the machine gun, there is a cooldown between usage, which you can speed up by defeating enemies.
The stages you go through can be challenging but not too difficult. It took me a few tries to get to the checkpoints, which are mid-stage spots that you will return to after dying.
In addition to dealing with enemies, you also have to do some platforming. Fortunately, the control is responsive in both combat and jumping.
If you are a fan of beat ‘em ups, then make sure you don’t miss out on 1964 Operation Velvet Twins.
