When using the Motorola Edge 2021, you may encounter an issue where you can’t turn on your phone.
To resolve this power problem, you can check out this troubleshooting guide at Seeking Tech.
How to force reboot the Motorola Edge 2021
The first step we recommend taking is by force rebooting your Motorola Edge 2021.
In order to do so, you need to press and hold the Power button for up to 30 seconds on your Edge 2021 smartphone.
If that doesn’t work, plug the Edge 2021 into a phone charger and then try the force reboot again.
Recharging your Motorola Edge 2021
If you still can’t turn on your Motorola Edge 2021 after performing a force reboot, the issue may be related to a depleted battery.
Therefore, we recommend recharging your smartphone. When recharging, make sure you are using the same cable and wall charger that came with the Edge 2021 phone. You should also make sure that both of these parts are connected properly (if you are using a phone case, then the case may be impeding the USB port of the phone) and aren’t damaged.
You should see a battery icon on screen of the Motorola Edge 2021. The phone won’t turn on until it reaches a minimal battery power level, which should take around 15 minutes to 20 minutes when you are using the wall charger that came with the phone.
If you are using another recharging method, such as recharging the phone through an USB port, then it may take longer for the phone’s battery to reach the minimum required level.
How to factory reset the Motorola Edge 2021
If your Motorola Edge 2021 still can’t turn on, then the issue may be software related. To resolve this, we recommend preforming a factory reset.
In order to do so, you need to take the following steps:
1. A factory reset will delete all the personal data you have on the internal storage of your Edge 2021 phone.
So, if you have any important files, then we recommend trying to back up the data if possible.
2. You will also need at least 25% of remaining battery life to be able to factory reset the Motorola Edge 2021.
So, make sure you recharge your phone to get the minimum battery level.
3. After meeting the battery requirement, unplug the Edge 2021 from the charger.
4. Press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons for three seconds and then release both buttons.
5. You should see a menu.
Use the Volume Down button to highlight the Recovery option.
6. Press the Volume Up button to select the Recovery option.
If pressing the Volume Up button doesn’t work, try pressing the Power button to select the Recovery option.
7. You should be in the “No Command” screen.
Here you need to press and hold the Power button. With the Power button held down, press and release the Volume Up button to open another menu.
If that doesn’t work, you can try pressing and holding the Volume Up button. With the Volume Up held down, press and release the Power button.
If neither of the two input methods work, press and hold the Volume Up button for 15 seconds. After 15 seconds, keep the Volume Up button held down while you press and release the Power button.
8. Use the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons to highlight the “wipe data/factory reset” option.
9. Press the Power button to select the “wipe data/factory reset” option.
10. New select, the “Yes — delete all user data.”
11. After the factory reset process is completed, select the “reboot system now” option.
Reflashing your Motorola Edge 2021
If none of the aforementioned methods work, then you want to consider reflashing your Motorola Edge 2021 phone.
Be flashing your smartphone again, you will return the phone to its original settings, which may resolve your issues with the Edge 2021 not being able to turn on.
At the same time, a reflash will delete all the personal data you can stored on the phone. So, if possible, we recommend backing up your data before starting.
