How to prevent Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra screen burn-in and ghosting issues

The Samsung Galaxy S22, Samsung Galaxy S22+ and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra come equipped with a Dynamic AMOLED 2X LED screen. The S22 is capable of outputting 1300 nits of brightness. The S22 Plus and S22 Ultra can get even brighter at up to 1750 nits.

While these screens can get incredibly bright, they may be susceptible to screen burn-in and ghosting as well if you aren’t careful with how you use the phones.

To see how you can prevent these temporary or permanent afterimages from appearing, you can take a look at this article at Seeking Tech.

1. The first step we recommend taking it to enable the Adaptive Brightness setting if you haven’t done so already.

With this feature, the phone will automatically adjust the screen brightness level depending on the ambient lighting condition it is detecting. As a result, you screen won’t be overly bright when it isn’t needed.

To learn more about how you can enable Adaptive Brightness and make this feature more accurate, you can take a look at this tutorial.

2. You can also manually lower the screen brightness as doing so will make it less likely for afterimages to appear on the AMOLED screen.

In order to do so, you can use the Quick Settings menu be swiping down from the top of the screen to first open the Notification Panel. You then need to swipe the Notification Panel down to open the Quick Settings menu, which should have the Brightness Control at the bottom.

You can also find the Brightness Control by opening the Settings App of your phone and then heading into the Display menu.

3. It is also a good idea to use the Screen Timeout feature so that you don’t accidentally leave the screen of your Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ or Galaxy S22 Ultra turned on for an extended length of time.

In order to activate this feature, open the Settings App and then go to the Display menu. Next, tap Screen Timeout and then select the length of time that will pass before the screen will turn itself off due to the lack of activity.

4. You should also make sure that the screen of your Samsung smartphone isn’t displaying the same graphic for an extended length of time. The graphic may include an in-game hub, logo or black bars.

We recommend taking a short break every hour or so if the screen is displaying the same graphic by turning the screen off for several minutes. You can also try doing something else on your phone so that the screen won’t get stuck displaying the same graphic.
