How to fix Xperia PRO-I battery drain issues

The Sony Xperia PRO-I smartphone comes equipped with a 4500 mAh capacity internal battery. If you are experiencing shorter than expected battery life, then you can take a look at this troubleshooting guide at Seeking Tech to see how you can fix the battery drain issues.

1. If you haven’t done so already, then you can slow down the battery drain by reducing the brightness level of the Xperia PRO-I’s screen.

2. You should also switch the display setting over to a dark theme or night theme as a black background uses less energy than a white background.

3. If you aren’t using the Bluetooth, mobile network, Wi-Fi or location services of the Xperia PRO-I, then you can turn them off.

4. Along with turning off Bluetooth, mobile network, Wi-Fi or location services individually, you can disable all these settings via the Airplane mode.

5. When you are not using home Wi-Fi network, make sure you disable roaming. This is because that feature uses more battery when trying to scan for your home Wi-Fi.

6. You can also disable location services, notifications and synchronizations from individual apps you have installed on your phone.

7. Of course, you can also uninstall any applications you have installed on the Sony Xperia PRO-I.

Keep in mind that some Google apps cannot be deleted. Therefore, you will need to disable these applications instead.

8. This smartphone uses more energy when you use the loudspeakers as opposed to using earphones, headphones or headsets. Therefore, you should make sure to use a listening device to stop the battery from depleting quickly.

9. It is also a good idea to restart the Xperia PRO-I as doing so will close all the processes that may have built up since the last reset.

10. Furthermore, you should use and store this Sony phone within the recommended temperature ranges.

  • For operation, the range is -10°C to +35°C (or +14°F to +95°F).
  • For non-operation, the range is +5°C to +35°C (or +41°F to +95°F).

11. You should also avoid overheating the Xperia PRO-I.

12. The Sony Xperia PRO-I do come with its own battery saver mode called the Stamina mode.

With this feature enabled, your phone will switch to a dark theme, lower the screen brightness level ain addition to disabling several features (such as image processing, rendering, background application synchronizations and streaming) in order to extend its battery usage.

To turn of Stamina mode, you need to open the Settings app and then go to Battery > Stamina mode. In the next screen select the “Turn on now” option.

13. Over time, the internal battery of the Xperia PRO-I will lose its effectiveness when it comes to storing energy.

To slow down this process, we recommend enabling Battery Care as this feature will set a charging limit to 80% or 90%. By using machine learning based on your charging pattern, it will then control the charging rate so that the battery can reach 100% just before you unplug your phone from the power source.

In order to turn of this feature, head into the Settings app. You then need to select Battery and Battery Care. Afterwards, make sure that the Battery Care setting is enabled.

14. To further prolong the lifespan of the battery inside the Xperia PRO-I, make sure that you recharge your phone before its battery level drops to below 20%.

Otherwise, the internal battery will become more stressed out.
