How to fix Samsung Galaxy S22/S22+/S22 Ultra crashing, random restarting and slowdown issues

When using your Samsung Galaxy S22, Samsung Galaxy S22+ or Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, you may experience crashing, freezing, random restarting and slowdown issues.

1. The first step we recommend taking is to try restarting your S22 series phone. Doing so will help fix any temporary bugs and app conflicts that may be causing these problems with your device.

If you can’t restart your device by using the touchscreen due to your smartphone being completely frozen, then you need to press and hold the Volume Down key and Side key at the same time for around 7 second to force a restart.

2. After restarting your device, the next step you can take is to delete any apps that you don’t use often.

3. If the internal storage of your S22, S22+ or S22 Ultra is too full, then it may cause performance problems.

So, along with deleting any apps that you don’t use, you should also delete or transfer images, videos and other files in order to free up some space.

We recommend that you should leave at least 15% of free space on the internal storage to stop any issues from popping up.

4. You can also use the Optimize Now function to help identify crashed apps, scan potential malware, find abnormal battery usage and close background running apps.

In order to do so, you need to take the following steps:

  • Open the Settings App on your S22, S22+ or S22 Ultra.
  • From the first page of the application, tap Battery and Device Care.
  • You then need to tap Optimize Now.
  • 5. To manually close background apps, you can also do the following:
  • Open the Settings App once again.
  • Go to Battery and Device Care.
  • Go to Memory.
  • Select the background apps that you want to close.
  • Select Clean Now.

5. For the apps that you want to keep using, make sure these applications are updated to the latest available software versions.

6. Moreover, you should also make sure that your Samsung Galaxy S22, Samsung Galaxy S22+ or Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has been updated to the latest available firmware.

7. The crashing, random restarts and/or slow down issues could be related to having very low battery life. Therefore, you should make sure that have sufficient battery charge.

8. You should also avoid using your Samsung smartphone when it starts to feel hot. Otherwise, the overheating device will slow down and will eventually shut itself off in order to cool down on its own.

10. If none of the aforementioned solutions help with getting rid of the crashing, random restarts or slowdown issues, then you can try factory resetting your phone.

To do so, you need to take the following steps:

  • Before you start, back up any important files or data you have on the internal storage. Otherwise, these will be deleted when your factory reset the device.
  • Launch the Settings App on your smartphone.
  • Inside of Settings, select General Management.
  • You then need to select Reset.
  • Next, select Factory Data Reset.
  • Select Reset once again.
  • Finally, select Delete All.
  • After factory resetting your Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ or Galaxy S22 Ultra, you will need to set up your smartphone once again.
