If you have a Google Pixel 6 or Google Pixel 6 Pro, then your smartphone may be ghost calling or phantom calling the contacts you have saved. To fix these random dialing issues, you can check out this troubleshooting tutorial at Seeking Tech.
1. The first step we recommend taking is to delete the data and cache from the Google app.
You can take the following steps in order to do so:
- First off, you need to open the Settings app. One of the ways to get there is to swipe up from an unoccupied space on the home screen to bring up a list of installed apps. You should then be able to tap the Settings app.
- In the Settings app, go to Apps.
- Inside the Apps menu, go to the “See all apps” option.
- In the All Apps menu, go to Google.
- Inside the “App info” menu for the Google app, tap the “Storage & cache” option.
- In the Storage menu, tap the “Manage space” option.
- In the Google Search Storage, tap CLEAR ALL DATA.
- Return to the “App info” menu for the Google app and then tap the “Clear cache” option.
2. You can also try disabling Google Assistant responses on the lock screen of your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro by doing the following:
- Get to the Settings app.
- Inside Settings, scroll down and then tap Google.
- In the Google menu, tap the “Settings for Google apps” option.
- In the “Settings for Google apps” menu, tap Search, Assistant & Voice.
- In the next screen, tap Google Assistant.
- In the following screen, tap the “Lock screen” option.
- In the “Lock screen” menu, make sure that the “Assistant responses on lock screen” setting is disabled.
3. To prevent potentially butt dialing someone, we also recommend changing the press and hold power function to open the power and emergency menu instead of activating Google Assistant.
To find out how to do so, you can take a look at this tutorial.
4. You should also consider disabling voice controls on your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro. In order to do so, you need to turn off the Hey Google feature by taking the following steps:
- Go to the Settings app.
- Select Google.
- Select “Settings for Google apps.”
- Select Search, Assistant & Voice.
- Select Google Assistant.
- Select Hey Google & Voice Match.
- In the Hey Google & Voice Match menu, make sure that the Hey Google setting is disabled on your phone as well as other connected devices.
5. To prevent your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro from pocket calling someone, we also recommend disabling both the lift to check phone and tap to check phone features.
To do so, you need to do the following:
- Open the Settings app.
- Inside Settings, tap Display.
- In the Display menu, tap “Lock screen.”
- In the “Lock screen” menu, make sure that both “Lift to check phone” and “Tap to check phone” settings are disabled.
6. One last step you can take when it comes the stopping the pocket dialing someone is to perform a system update, which you can do by taking the following steps:
- Head into the Settings app.
- In the Settings menu, scroll down and then select System.
- In the System menu, select “System update.”
- In the next screen, you will see if a new firmware is available to download and install.
