With Android 13, you are able to easily change the audio output of your Google Pixel 6, Google Pixel 6a or Google Pixel 6 Pro. To find out how to switch the source, you can check out this tutorial from Seeking Tech.
1. As we stated above, your phone needed to be running on the Android 13 operating system. While the Pixel 6, Pixel 6a and Pixel 6 Pro launched with Android 12 pre-installed, these devices can be upgraded to the new OS.
To check the current operating system, as well as updated it, you can take the following steps:
- To begin, make sure you open the Settings App on your Google smartphone.
- After opening the Settings App, you then need to go to System from the front page.
- You should then find the operating system right under the System Update option in the System menu.
- If your Pixel phone is running or Android 12 or an older OS, then you can select the System Update option and the Check for Update. Afterwards, wait for the down and installation to be completed to upgrade the operating system to Android 13.
2. Once your Pixel 6 series phone has been updated to Android 13, you can go ahead and open a media playing app.
For this guide, we will be using the Firefox App to play YouTube videos as an example.
3. Inside the media playing app, start playing the audio or video. Optionally, you can also immediately pause the media after you start playing it.
4. Next, you need to use one finger swipe downwards from the top of the screen in order to pull down the Quick Settings menu.
5. In the Quick Settings menu, you should see a big tile that shows the media player for your Pixel 6 phone.
On this tile, tap the option located on the top right corner. Depending on the default audio output source, this option will be different. If you are using your phone’s speakers, for example, then the top right option will be “This Phone.”
6. In the pop-up menu, you can then choose a different the audio output source.
7. Once you are finished with making your choice, select the Done option in the pop-up menu in order to confirm the change.
8. The audio output source should now be switched over to the other listening device.
