Be default, swiping to the left from the home screen of your Google Pixel 6 or Google Pixel 6 Pro will open the Google app. On the front page, this application will show news that may not appeal to your preferences. Not to mention that it will use up bandwidth from your mobile data.
You can check out this step-by-step guide at Seeking Tech to see how you can remove this function from your phone.
1. To begin, press and hold an empty space from the home screen of your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro.
2. In the small pop-up menu, tap the “Home settings” option.
3. In the “Home settings” menu, you should see the “Swipe to access Google app” setting.
If the switch next to this setting is set to the right side, then it indicates that the Google app swipe left shortcut is currently enabled. To turn it off, simply select this setting to move the switch to the left side.
Can you delete Google app on Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro?
Unfortunately, you can’t delete the Google app from your Pixel 6 Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 phone. However, you can disable or force it to stop.
To disable or force stop the phone, you can take the following steps:
1. Open the Settings app. You can do so by swiping upwards from an empty space in the home screen to bring up a list of installed apps on your smartphone. Next, you need to tap the Settings app.
2. Once you get to Settings, tap Apps.
3. Inside the Apps menu, tap the “See all apps” option.
4. In the “All apps” menu, tap Google.
5. In the “App info” menu, you can either tap “Disable” or “Force stop.”
The “Disable” option will permanently turn off the app and then hide it from appearing in the list of installed apps.
The “Force stop” option will temporary close the app. The app will remain closed until you restart your phone or turn off your phone and then turn it back on again.
