External Storage Drive Type

The Seagate Xbox Game Drive External HDD and Seagate Xbox Game Drive External SSD are both portable types, which means that the two devices get power from the same USB port used to connect to your Xbox system.

The Seagate Xbox Game Drive Hub is a desktop type, which means that it can’t get power through the same USB port used to connect the external storage drive to your console. Instead, you have to plug it into a power outlet.

Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X Compatibility Features

Although the three Seagate Game Drives are designed mainly for the Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox One X, the external storage drives are also compatible with the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.

When connected to the Xbox Series consoles, you will be able to play backward compatible Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One games directly from drive.

Although you won’t be able to play Xbox Series S or Xbox Series X games directly from these external storage drives, you can still use the devices as cold storage. Doing so will save you extra time from re-installing games if you have a physical disc. It will also save you bandwidth if you are re-downloading a digital game.
