What’s in the Box

The WD_BLACK D10 is an external desktop storage drive; as a result, you will need to plug it into a power outlet via the included AC adapter.

Both the WD_BLACK P10 and WD SSD Gaming Drive Accelerated are portable storage drives, which mean that the two devices don’t need to be plug into a power outlet. Instead, the same USB port used to connect the drives to the Xbox consoles will double as the power source. The WD_BLACK P10 comes with an USB cable while the USB cable for the WD SSD Gaming Drive Accelerated is already integrated into the drive.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

The 12 TB WD_BLACK D10 comes with a 3-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

The 1 TB WD_BLACK P10 includes a 1-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription while the 3 TB and 5 TB versions each comes with a 2-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership.

Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X compatibility

All three Western Digital storage drives can also be used on the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. You will be able to play backwards compatible Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One games directly on the external drives.

You can also use the devices as cold storage for Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X games. Doing so will save you extra time from having to download and/or re-install the next-generation games.

USB Connection

The WD_BLACK D10 and WD_BLACK P10 both use USB 3.2 while the WD Gaming Drive Accelerated uses USB 3.0.

The WD SSD Gaming Drive Accelerated is the fastest out of this group as it can reach a maximum speed that is 60 percent more than the WD_BLACK D10 and 208 percent more than WD_BLACK P10. You can find the speed specifications below:
