Sabrent External SSDs: Rocket Pro vs. Rocket XTRM vs. Rocket XTRM-Q

The Rocket XTRM-Q is the latest external solid state drive from Sabrent. So how does the new model compare against the older products, the Rocket Pro and Rocket XTRM? You can find out in this comparison guide between the three SSDs.

Quick Summary

The Sabrent Rocket XTRM-Q is the only solid state drive out of this group to support both Thunderbolt 3 and USB 3.2 connections. You are limited to a USB 3.2 connection with the Sabrent Rocket Pro and Thunderbolt 3 with the Sabrent Rocket XTRM.

In terms of transfer speed, the Rocket XTRM-Q performs better than the Rocket XTRM over a Thunderbolt 3 connection. However, the Rocket XTRM-Q is not as fast as the Sabrent Rocket Pro over the USB 3.2 connection.

If you are planning to use an external solid state drive with Thunderbolt 3 and/or planning to switch between USB 3.2 and Thunderbolt 3, then we recommend getting the Sabrent Rocket XTRM-Q. If you are only planning to connect the SSD to a USB 3.2 port, then the best option is the Sabrent Rocket Pro.
