Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-I Card vs. Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-II Card

There are two versions of SanDisk’s Extreme PRO microSDXC Card with the UHS-I and UHS-II interfaces. So, what are the main differences between these two memory cards? You can find out in this comparison guide.

Quick Summary

When compared to the Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-I Card, the Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-II Card offers much faster sequential read speeds in addition to a slightly faster writing speed. On the other hand, the UHS-I version comes with more capacity options, including sizes that are bigger than the maximum capacity available for the UHS-II version (which tops out at 128 GB).

If you want the best performance possible, then we recommend getting the Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-II Card if you have a device with a memory card slot that supports UHS-II. The SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-I is a good alternative if you are looking for bigger capacity options and/or more affordability.

Capacity Options

The Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-I Card comes in seven capacity options while the Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-II Card is limited to only two. You can take a look at the available sizes, as well as the model numbers, below:

SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-I Card:

  • 32 GB: SDSQXCG-032G
  • 64 GB: SDSQXCY-064G
  • 128 GB: SDSQXCY-128G
  • 256 GB: SDSQXCZ-256G

SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-II Card:

  • 64 GB: SDSQXPJ-064G-ANCM3
  • 128 GB: SDSQXPJ-128G-ANCM3

Compatibility

Both memory card types are compatible with devices that have the following slots:

  • MicroSDHC
  • MicroSDXC
  • microSDHC UHS-I
  • microSDXC UHS-I
  • microSDHC UHS-II
  • microSDXC UHS-II

Keep in mind that, if you use a UHS-I card with a device that have a UHS-II memory card slot, then you will be limited to the speeds of the UHS-I specifications. If you use a UHS-II card with a device that have a UHS-I slot, you will be also limited to the UHS-I speeds.

So, in order to take advantage of the increased speeds of the UHS-II, you need to use a UHS-II card with a device that has a UHS-II slot.
