HDMI Ports

Both of these 2021 televisions come equipped with four HDMI 2.1 ports.

HDMI 2.1 is supported by the PC, PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. This HDMI version is also backwards compatible with older versions as it should have no problem connecting to older consoles like the Wii U, Switch, PS3, PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Native Resolution

The native resolution of the LG C1 is 4K while the LG QNED99 is capable of displaying up to 8K.

Native Refresh Rate

The C1 and QNED99 are both 120 Hz sets. On the consoles side, this means that you should be able to play Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X games at 120 frames per second at 1080p, 1440p and 4K as well as PS5 games at 120 fps at 1080p and 4K.

Legacy Consoles Support

When it comes to very old consoles, these TVs should be able to connect to the NES, Super NES, Sega Master System, Genesis and other similar systems as both include an antenna/cable input.

HDR Features

Although the QNED99 features local dimming while the C1 doesn’t, the C1 doesn’t need this feature as it uses as OLED screen.

Otherwise, both TVs support the same HDR features, including the Dolby Vision and HDR10 formats used by videogames.

Contrast Ratios

According to tests from RTINGS.com, the QNED99 has a poor native contrast with a ratio of 638 to 1. However, the ratio gets much better when you enable local dimming as doing so will boost the contrast to 6,534 to 1.

With that said, the C1 still trumps over the QNED99 in this department as it has an infinity to 1 ratio thanks to being an OLED screen.

HDR Brightness in Game Mode

Based on testes done by RTINGS.com, the QNED99 can reach 792 nits of brightness when you are playing a HDR videogame using the low latency mode for this LG television. That is 181 nits more than the C1 under the same scenario.

Overall, the C1 is still considered to be good when it comes to HDR brightness output. However, the QNED99 should be able to output a brighter image.

Adaptive Sync Support

The LG C1 is the only television in this comparison to support FreeSync for computers with AMD graphics cards, GSYNC for computers with NVIDIA graphics cards in addition to Variable Refresh Rate for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S (the PS5 should eventually get VRR support as well).

All three adaptive sync modes will help with games that run at inconsistent frame rate as stuttering and screen tearing will be reduced.

Input Lag

While both televisions have excellent latency reduction, the LG C1 does provide slightly lower input lag when compared to the LG QNED99 when you use the game mode settings for both sets based on tests by RTINGS.com.

The differences are 4 milliseconds at most, however.

Although the QNED99 can display up to 60 frames per second at 8K, playing games at that resolution can feel laggy.
