Maximum Recording Resolution and Frame Rate

The two external capture cards can record gameplay videos at up to 60 frames per second in a maximum resolution of 1080p.

Video Pass-Through Output

The Mini and Portable 2 Plus versions of the AverMedia Live Gamer utilize HDMI for video pass-through output.

The maximum pass-through resolution and frame rate for the Live Gamer Mini is 1080p60, which means that you can play games at the max of 1080p and 60 frames per second while capturing footage at the same time.

The Live Gamer Portable 2 Plus has a maximum pass-through support of 4K and 60 frames per second. So, it is more suitable recording videos for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X games.

Audio Input

For audio input, the Mini model supports HDMI while the Portable 2 Plus model supports HDMI in addition to a 4 Pole 3.5mm Jack.

Record Format

The two external capture devices use the MPEG 4 (H.264+AAC) format for recording. With the Portable 2 Plus, you can also use the MJPEG format.

RECentral

The Mini and Portable 2 Plus also supports RECentral, a software you can use to stream and record gameplay videos.

MicroSD Card Support

The Portable 2 Plus is the only one of the two to come with a MicroSD card slot. This allows you to record gameplay videos without the need of a PC. The capture card supports microSD cards of up to 128 GB.

Although both the exFAT and FAT32 formates are supported, videos captured using FAT32 have to be divided and saved ever 4 GB (or around 25 minutes of captured footage). With the exFAT format, you can record continuously.
