Amazon has opened pre-orders for the new Western Digital My Passport SSD. There are currently three capacity options available for the external drive: 500 GB (WDBAGF5000AGY-WESN), 1 TB (WDBAGF0010BGY-WESN) and 2 TB (WDBAGF0020BGY-WESN). The new My Passport uses NVMe to achieve speeds of up to 1050 MB per second as well as write speeds of up to 1000 MB per second. For security, it uses 256-bit AES hardware encryption. The solid state drive is cross compatible with USB 3.2 Gen-2, USB-C and USB-A.
The product has been designed to be shock and vibration resistant and should be able to withstand drops of up to 6/5 feet. It also comes with a 5-year manufacturer’s limited warranty.
According to the product pages, the 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB versions of the new My Passport SSD will be coming out on Aug. 20, 2020, in the U.S. region.
